Our new pastor
The Pastoral Search Inventory asked the congregation to
identify pastoral roles that they felt were most important.
The responses reflect what we are looking for in a pastor.
- A minister of the Word and teacher of the congregation;
a friend and fellow traveler in life’s journey; a
guide who emphasizes our spiritual development
- Someone who carefully prepares and skillfully delivers
challenging, thought-provoking sermons that make
individuals reflect on issues and events of their daily
lives as well as those of the world beyond their local
community
- New ideas and methods; a person who helps people
work things out for themselves; a facilitator who
encourages laity to be involved in planning and leading
church programs and events
- A relaxed, interpersonal style; someone who is
outgoing and socially engaging
- We also respect the need for our pastor to maintain a
private life

this profile
- Is a strong leader who will help us make wise choices
amid competing options and priorities—choices that
most of our spiritually, theologically, socially, economically,
culturally and politically diverse congregation will
view as positive
As we honor our strengths, our traditions and the
outstanding legacy of prior leadership, we understand
that change is a constant in life, not to be avoided but
rather embraced for its inherent challenge and opportunity.
