MUSIC AT CALVARY
Music has the power to connect head and heart. Whether listening or participating, music is at its best a spiritual endeavor. Calvary’s music is guided by this mission statement:
- God is the focus of all that we do. Soli Deo gloria!
- Our music is an expression of our faith in Christ and His love for the world.
- The intent of our music, in whatever style it may take form, is to challenge listeners to be a Christ-like community.

The Calvary Choir plays a central role in worship services at Calvary. Under the leadership of Director of Music Kevin Padworski, the choir participates in worship every Sunday, leading and offering music from the choir loft at the front of the sanctuary. This 45-member adult choir has performed both here and abroad, singing a diverse repertoire from Hogan to Handel.
New members are always welcome! Interested candidates should have a basic knowledge of music, or learn quickly by ear and have the ability to match pitches. Above all else, the main qualification is a passion for music and ministry—Soli Deo gloria!

Choristers
Children in grades 2–5 enjoy a music experience that help’s them become more aware of God’s love for them and all of Creation. They grow to give voice to their developing musical expressions through interacting with the director and each other, listening and memorization skills. Children have much to teach us about trust, faith and the joy of praising God!

Instrumental Music
JuBellation
Calvary’s handbell choir is open to youth and adults, 6th grade and up. With five octaves of handbells and four octaves of handchimes donated by Betty Rae and Scott Marshall, versatility in sound and style is achieved (along with unique striking techniques!). Ringers find it easier if they can read music (both notes and rhythms), but it is not a requirement. JuBellation rings periodically in worship and occasionally for special events.

Pipe Organ
NEWS RELEASE: The Council at Calvary Baptist Church of Denver voted unanimously to purchase a 1987 McManis III/43 pipe organ from University Hills Baptist Church. This is an exciting acquisition that will continue the tradition and standard of excellence of good organ music and musicians within our congregational and denominational traditions. Read about the process and the research in these PDFs. See possible design ideas and read the full Feb. 3, 2012 update (PDF.)
