MISSION

American Baptist MissionAmerican Baptist Mission
Through our financial giving, mission trips, and a missionary-in-residence, Calvary is at the forefront of commitment to American Baptist Mission. American Baptists have more than 200 missionaries in dozens of countries in Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and Europe.

October is the month when American Baptists focus on Mission and take a special offering called the World Mission offering which supports overseas mission work.

For more information please visit the American Baptist Mission web site.

Mission at Calvary
Calvary Baptist Church is committed to extensive mission work both globally and locally with organizations such as the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Project Angel Heart, Habitat for Humanity and English for Speakers of Other Languages.

Our next Habitat build is October in Aurora. Whether you can swing a hammer or make a sandwich run for hungry workers, we can use volunteers. St. Thomas More is our partner with Habitat for Humanity.
Sign up by calling the church office, 303.757.8421.

Calvary Baptist Church has a long history of deep commitment to mission, both global and local. It ranks consistently in the top 10 churches in our denomination in mission giving.

One significant way of increasing global awareness is through mission trips. Youth and adults participate in such trips. Poland, Czech Republic, Israel and China and in the summer of 2003, 19 from Calvary participated in a Habitat for Humanity trip to Budapest, Hungary (click here to see photos.) Working with the Hungary affiliate, we worked on the construction of six row houses. It is a joy to support Habitat's mission of affordable housing for all of God's children.

Calvary youth travelled to New Mexico (click here to see photos) to complete major home improvements and share major fun.

Calvary is sponsoring a refugee family from Rwanda. The mother is Florence Mukabahizi, son is Filbert, 19, and three daughters, Josiana, l4, Joseline, 11, and Giselle, 9. Most recently, this Christian family lived in a Zimbabwe refugee camp.

Calvary members and friends followed Apostle Paul’s last journey through Malta, Sciliy and Rome on a two-week study trip in 2004. Tour coordinator Pastor Mary Hulst and biblical resources teacher/guide Jim Fleming led the journey.

Worldwide Awareness
Calvary staff maintains ecumenical ties with movers and shakers of faith, peace and justice around the world. Whenever possible, these men and women are invited to Calvary to widen our compassion, knowledge and support of worldwide issues. The dynamic Rev. Desmond Hoffmeister was here in September 2003 and 2004. A native of Capetown, South Africa, Hoffmeister was active in the liberation movement and later founded the Global Prophetic Network to encourage the nurture of young prophets in the reconciliation process.
